How To Start With DMARC Using DMARC Analyzer

How DMARC Analyzer is a handy tool for safety and security of email.

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) is an integral approach in today’s time since it helps ensure the safety and security of email and domain from threat actors. DMARC is a source that ties up two open standards, namely SPF and DKIM, together for emails.

To have DMARC for a domain, one first needs to create a record, publish it in the DNS, and then utilize the information it provides. DMARC Analyzer can help manage DMARC on your behalf.

How To Start With DMARC With DMARC Analyzer?

The procedure to start with DMARC isn’t lengthy; on the other hand, it is, instead, straightforward. Firstly, one needs to set up the SPF and DKIM since the DMARC policy works on the functioning of these two authentication standards. DMARC serves as a supportive mechanism for fellow technologies and provides an extra layer of safety to the domain.

DMARC Analyzer provides the following five simple steps to start with DMARC.

  • Generate A DNS Record: To begin with DMARC, register on DMARC Analyzer, and if already done, log in. Then, go to the Analyzer setup and create a custom DNS record.
  • Login To The DNS Provider: Once logged in, go to the ‘Manage DNS’ section in the DNS provider. Under that section, select the record type, and click on ‘TXT’ in it.
  • Add Host Value: In this field, enter the input with which the hosting provider will be utilizing the domain or subdomain.
  • Create A New TXT Record: For adding the ‘value’ information, there are two things that are of utmost importance:
    • The tag value for ‘v’ can only be ‘v=DMARC1’.
    • In the ‘p’ tag, there are three options, none, quarantine, or reject. These policy values help determine the action to take against fraudulent emails. It will look like ‘p=none.’
      Opt for the DMARC wizard for better aid and functioning of the policy. Try including the ‘rua‘ tag to receive reports on the email about how the domain is doing. The rua tags are entered as
      'rua=mailto:dmarcreports@domainname.com'.
  • Save: After all the above steps, click the ‘create’ button present at the bottom, and it’s done!
