DuoCircle vs.
the Category Leaders.
If you're researching email security, deliverability, or authentication, you're going to run into the same handful of names. We're not trying to be all of them. We deliver roughly 90% of category-leader capability at about half the cost, with experts who pick up the phone instead of CSMs in a tier system. This page is the honest map; click through to any focused comparison for the deep dive.
About 90% of capability at half the cost
The "90% of capability at 50% of the cost" pattern shows up across our portfolio because it's the same operating principle every time: build the practical core that the engagement gap leaves underserved, price it for the customers the enterprise vendors won't engage with, and skip the parts of the suite that exist mainly to push enterprise contract values higher.
That math doesn't mean we're better than the leaders for every buyer. It means we're a real choice for buyers in the engagement gap.
SPF, DMARC, and the proof you actually own your domain
DMARC Report holds multi-region G2 Category Leader recognition for DMARC Software (Leader globally plus EMEA, Europe, Asia, Asia-Pacific, and Small Business segment). The category-leader claim isn't vendor-self-assertion; it's third-party-verified.
AutoSPF vs. Valimail
Automatic SPF management at SMB-through-mid-market price tiers. AutoSPF was built because Valimail wouldn't engage at the customer's budget. Now runs for a $16 billion IT services firm.
DMARC Report vs. EasyDMARC
Both have free tiers; both serve mid-market. DMARC Report is multi-region G2 Category Leader for DMARC Software, with vendor-managed remediation as a professional service. Volume-based pricing rather than per-domain.
Anti-phishing, anti-spam, and the protection layer
DuoCircle's email protection products are built for Microsoft 365, Exchange, and on-premise environments. We're not the right fit for Google Workspace customers; Google's built-in protection is genuinely strong on Workspace, and we don't think we add enough on top to justify the spend. That's the honest answer.
Phishing Protection vs. Proofpoint
Same anti-phishing core (click-time URL inspection, BEC defense, impersonation detection) at roughly half the cost, without the enterprise procurement gauntlet.
Phishing Protection vs. Sophos
Focused email-only product vs. Sophos's broader endpoint+email+network bundle. Choose Sophos if you're consolidating; choose us if you want focused anti-phishing.
Phishing Protection vs. Trend Micro
Email-only focus vs. Trend's cybersecurity-suite bundle. Same fork in the road as Sophos: bundle math vs. focused product.
DuoCircle vs. Mimecast
Spam Filtering plus Phishing Protection at half the Mimecast bundle price. Honest about where Mimecast covers more (full archiving, awareness training, multi-day continuity).
DuoCircle vs. Barracuda
Focused anti-spam and anti-phishing without Barracuda's bundled backup, archiving, and network products. Pricing on the product site.
Spam Filtering vs. SpamTitan
Both are value-tier; comparison is closer than against Proofpoint or Mimecast. Different engagement model (channel vs. direct) and broader portfolio under one team.
SMTP relay, developer APIs, placement, and outreach
Different sending patterns need different architectures. Transactional mail belongs on a relay (Outbound SMTP). Cold outreach belongs on the sender's own mailboxes (NuReply). Placement testing has a different shape entirely (InboxIssue). Developer-API sending has its own fit (unsent.dev). Outbound SMTP free tier: 1,000 emails per month, no credit card. The free door is real.
Outbound SMTP vs. SendGrid
Focused SMTP relay at half the cost. 1,000 emails per month free, no credit card. SendGrid wins on API ecosystem and Twilio platform breadth.
Outbound SMTP vs. Mailgun
Same shape as the SendGrid comparison: SMTP-focused vs. API-flagship. The 90/50 ratio holds at most volume tiers.
Outbound SMTP vs. Brevo
Focused relay vs. all-in-one marketing platform. Choose Brevo if you want CRM + SMS + email under one roof; choose us for focused SMTP relay.
unsent.dev vs. Resend
Both HTTP-first transactional APIs. unsent.dev is earlier in its public arc; Resend has the larger install base. Connection to the rest of the DuoCircle delivery stack is the real differentiator.
InboxIssue vs. GlockApps
Different testing scopes: InboxIssue tests against real corporate mailboxes (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace business plans with full security stacks). GlockApps focuses on consumer seed-account testing.
NuReply vs. Smartlead
Both bring-your-own-mailbox cold outreach. Smartlead has the larger install base and feature cadence; NuReply's value is the same-team relationship across the rest of DuoCircle's delivery stack.
Forwarding, Backup MX, and tenant migrations
DuoCircle's routing portfolio (Email Forwarding, Alumni Forwarding, Backup MX, Tenant Migration, Message Replay) is mostly built for situations where the major vendors weren't willing to engage at the customer's tier. Specific category-leader comparisons for this group are in progress; in the meantime, see the capability pages directly:
What you get that the leaders don't typically offer
Engineering-led support
When you call DuoCircle, the person on the call is technical, can make decisions, and has actually deployed the products at customer scale. No SDR funnel.
Pricing on the product sites
No quote-only gating. You can see what things cost before you start a conversation.
Free tiers where they fit
Outbound SMTP free up to 1,000 emails per month. DMARC Report has a free tier for one domain. Mail Flow Monitoring is fully free since 2018. The door is open.
24/7 SLA across all customers
Not a premium tier. The founding-charter promise from 2014, still operative across every product.
Friction-free trust posture
SOC 2 Type 2 audited annually since 2022. The Bonterms Mutual NDA is published publicly so prospects review it before requesting the report. No NDA gauntlet, no procurement runaround.
One operating company across the portfolio
Not a re-bundling of OEM products. Same engineering team across DMARC Report, AutoSPF, Outbound SMTP, NuReply, InboxIssue, the protection suite, and the routing products.
We're not the right answer for every buyer
Tier-one enterprise procurement. If your organization explicitly requires a Proofpoint, Mimecast, or Valimail-tier vendor commit, DuoCircle is not structured for that engagement model. Buy what your CISO has bought into.
Bundle math. If you're buying multiple products from the same leader (e.g., Sophos endpoint plus email plus network plus cloud) and the bundle pricing is meaningfully better than buying each focused product separately, the leader's bundle might win on math alone.
Specific ecosystem requirements. If you have a hard integration requirement that maps to a specific leader's partnership ecosystem and no equivalent exists, that's a binding constraint.
Google Workspace customers for spam and phishing specifically. Google's built-in is strong; we're not the right fit there. (Other DuoCircle products like DMARC Report and AutoSPF still apply on Workspace.)
